Minutes of MARS Network meetings

Training courses on marine biodiversity are organised within the MARS framework. The first course was organized in February 1998 in Banyuls-sur-mer, France, entitled 'European Practical Training Course on Marine Biodiversity' (in cooperation with TMR-CNRS).

List of past events

  • 10-17 May 2004: Baltic Course on Adaptive Strategies of Benthic Animals in Tidal and Non-tidal Systems, organised under the colours of Gdansk university (Poland) in cooperation with CEME-NIOO, the Netherlands. Contact: Dr Adam Sokolowski
  • 2-4 April 2004: 2nd Marine Biology Postgraduate Workshop organised by the Marine Biological Association (with the University of Plymouth and UoW-Bangor) in Bangor (UK)
  • 17-19 March 2004: The first MarBEF General Assembly and kick-off meeting took place in Bruges (Brugge), Belgium
  • 20-24 November 2003: Conference on Genetic Biodiversity in Natural and Agricultural Ecosystems held in Florence. The Florence conference is being organized as an activity of the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy (EPBRS) and under the Italian Presidency of the European Union
  • 25-26 November 2003: 'Preparing the future of marine research stations in Europe' meeting of the third MARS conference of Directors will be held in Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in Amsterdam, the Netherlands
  • 6-17 October 2003: Fifth MARBENA e-conference on Genetic Biodiversity in Marine Ecosystems. The conference is being organized by MBA, the Marine Biological Association of the UK in discussion with ENEA, the Marine Environment Research Centre, La Spezia, Italy, and will inform the physical conference on 'Genetic Biodiversity in Natural and Agricultural Ecosystems' being organized for 20-24 November 2003 and to be held in Florence
  • 5-8 July 2003: BioPlatform Meeting in support of the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy, with discussion on „Biodiversity research strategy and structure in the Acceding and Candidate Countries”, held in Bialowieza, Poland
  • 2-12 June 2003: Fourth MARBENA e-conference: Newly Associated States and Marine Biodiversity Research - Are marine biodiversity problems different for NAS as compared to other EU countries? The results will be presented at BIOPLATFORM meeting in Belovesha, Poland 5-8 July to discuss Biodiversity research strategy and structure in the NAS: preparing for FP 6
  • 29-31 May 2003: Conference on Sustainable Development of the Mediterranean and Black Sea Environment was held in Thessaloniki, Greece. During the Greek Presidency of the EU
  • 23-26 May 2003: The European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy (EPBRS) meeting under the Greek EU Presidency will be held in Molyvos (also known as Mythimna) on Lesvos, Greece
  • 7-20 April 2003: Third MARBENA e-conference: Marine Biodiversity in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea 'The known, unknown, unknowable and the value', ran from 7 to 20 April 2003
  • October 24 2000, Workshop : To a European Regulation of Scientific Diving Banyuls-sur-mer (France)
  • October 13-15 2000 Mars conference of directors, Venice
